Tom Coolen

Tom Coolen's 30 year coaching career has taken him across the hockey world, most recently in the National Hockey League with the Buffalo Sabres, and the Sochi Olympics and IIHF World Championships, as a member of the Team Latvia coaching staff.
 
Tom coached for a decade at Acadia University, building two national Championship teams and guiding the Axemen to the schools first national title in 1993. He is a two time CIS Coach of the Year and a three time AUS Coach of the Year. He has coached at the Elite level in Germany, Finland and Switzerland. He is a Kinesiology graduate of Dalhousie University, with Master's Degrees in Athletic Coaching from Central Michigan University and Counseling Psychology from the University of New Brunswick. He is a professional member of the Canadian Sport Psychology Association, with a part time practice in sport psychology consulting.
 
Tom was recently inducted into the Acadia University Sport Hall of Fame in the summer of 2015.
